Applied Cybernetics www.appliedcybernetics.com has just introduced two new orbital closed-chamber weldheads: the AC-250 (far left) and the AC-8000 (far right). These were featured at the Fabtech/AWS 2008 show. The AC-250 is aimed at the semiconductor manufacturing facility sector with the most popular size of 1/4″ OD in stainless 316L for use with the Swagelok (R) and Fujikin (R) series of fittings and accessories. Main features of the AC-250 is its small size with full double-sided water cooling and the ability to do fitting-to-fitting welds over 270° of coverage around the weldhead. Additionally, the clamping is so designed to open only to the width of the weldhead body thereby allowing it to be used in extremely tight areas such as in gas boxes.

Welding Stainless Tubing to Fittings

The AC-8000 weldhead is one of the largest (up to 8″ pipe: 8-5/8″OD) closed chamber orbital weldheads, again double-sided water cooled but also one of the thinnest. It measures only 44.5mm (1.75″) thick. It also features a double-sided internal chamber gas diffuser providing sterling welds because of the superior gas coverage (at a low flow rate). Additionally, the top clamping provides a viewing door for inspection just before welding for checking lineup of the tube ends and a unique latch/unlatching mechanism to allow ease of installing or clamping to tubes and unclamping from the finished and hot welded tubes with ease and no discomfort to bare hands.

Applied Cybernetics offers the complete line of orbital closed chamber weld heads: AC-250, AC-500, AC-750, AC-2000, AC-4000, AC-8000 with the capability to connect to the following orbital welding power supplies: Arc Machines (R) 107 and 207A, Liburdi Dimetrics (R) PTW 150 and 160, MK Products Cobratig 150 and ACL, Orbimatic 165A and 165B.
